A powered down police auction

If you've ever gone to a Suffolk County Police Department property auction, you know the draws are hot cars, boats and choppers. Not this time.

An auction planned for June 9 at the Property Section building in Yaphank instead will include power tools, household appliances, electronic equipment, bicycles and unused clothing will be up for bid.

Ho, hum.

The event will be held rain or shine starting at 8:30 a.m. All items will be sold “as is,” and payments must be made in cash.

But if you are interested in the big-ticket items, there is another police auction on June 12 starting at 9 a.m. at the impound facility at  110 Old Country Rd. in Westhampton. That auction is of impounded vehicles will feature more than 90 vehicles, including sedans, pickup trucks, vans, motorcycles and ATV’s, according to the police department's website.
