The Huntington Station-based Porter-Trejo Action Network Inc. is holding a meeting tonight on organizing for affordable housing, economic development and small-business opportunities in underserved communities, with guest speakers state Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson (D-Mount Vernon) and faith based-based community advocate Carrie Mobley.
Porter-Trejo officials say its mission is to bring affordable housing to Huntington Station as well as revitalize the area.
Bazeel Walters, co-founder of the group, said the meeting is part of a continuing effort to bring various voices to the community to hear about ways to advocate for issues important to Huntington Station.
“We want to show the community [that] other communities have faced the same problems but have been successful in solving them when you work together collectively,” Walters said.
The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the Iglesia Luz De Salvacion Light Of Salvation Church, 1599 New York Ave., Huntington Station.
