The Alzheimer’s Association of Long Island will host its annual fundraising walk Saturday in Old Bethpage.
The 5k Walk to End Alzheimer’s is scheduled to take place at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration at 1303 Round Swamp Rd.
More than 1,500 people participated in the walk last year, raising $383,000. This year, organizers hope to attract more than 2,000 walkers and raise $400,000.
The money goes toward Alzheimer’s research as well as programs, services and support for the more than 60,000 Long Islanders living with the disease and their caregivers.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. The walk is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. At noon, an Oktoberfest will offer food and entertainment. The event will be held rain or shine.
There is no registration fee for participants who have collected donations. For others, general admission is $20 for adults, $10 for young adults, $5 for children and free for children 2 and under.
Cablevision, Newsday’s parent company, is one of the sponsors of the event.
