American Indian dancing, drumming and food are making their way to Babylon Town this weekend for the 31st annual Paumanauke Powwow.
The event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Babylon Town Hall Park in Lindenhurst. The powwow is sponsored by the Town of Babylon, the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts and the Paumanauke Powwow Committee.
The event will feature Aztec, traditional and specialty dancers, dance competitions, traditional drumming, and native crafts and food. More than 60 American Indian artists and craftspeople will display their goods for sale.
The powwow will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, both days rain or shine.
The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for youngsters ages 12 to 16, seniors 60 and older and the handicapped. Children younger than 12 can attend for free.
For seating, anyone attending is asked to bring a lawn chair.
