The village of Westhampton Beach is planning a second dog parade this month as a bookend to the beach season that typically ends with one of the more unusual East End traditions, the Love on a Leash parade.
The new parade on June 12, the Dog Walk and Festival, is sponsored by RSVP — Responsible Solutions for Valued Pets — an animal rescue and adoption organization that also runs a shelter and spay and neuter clinic. Love on a Leash, at the end of the summer, is sponsored by Bideawee, also an animal welfare organization.
The new parade is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at the Great Lawn at the west end of the village business district and end at the gazebo in the village park at the east end.
The fee for dog owners who want to participate in the parade is $25 if they register online at rsvpinc.org or $30 at the registration desk on the Great Lawn.
All the money raised will go to RSVP programs. For more information call 631-877-3400.
