According to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), SPCA Chief Roy Gross aided in the rescuing of several ducklings stranded in a Mt. Sinai storm drain.

At around 10 a.m., Gross received a call reporting "about" seven ducklings stuck in a storm drain at the Hamlet at Willow Creek, according to the SPCA.

Gross later arrived at the scene and, with the help John Tanner, lifted the grate and rescued the ducks.

The ducklings, which were all alert and responsive, were then returned to a nearby pond.

Gross' duckling heroics marked the third time in recent months that ducklings were saved. Attached, find photos of the last two instances, which occurred in Bay Shore and East Setauket.
