Around Lindenhurst: Spring festival nears

The 21st  Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce Spring Festival is scheduled for April 29 to May 1. Each spring, I look forward to this festival as it signals the end of the cold winter weather and the beginning of warmer, more care-free days.

The festival starts Friday and continues Saturday with food, games and carnival rides. On Sunday, there will be a street fair with live music, crafts, retail goods and food.

On Friday and Saturday, activities will be along Hoffman Avenue north of the Long Island Rail Road tracks from North Wellwood Avenue to North Fifth Street.

On Sunday festival activities will be on Wellwood Avenue from West Gates Avenue to West John Street.

There is no admission charge. Festival hours are Friday, 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
