As part of its continued revitalization efforts in New Cassel, the Town of North Hempstead is seeking artists to create several pieces of public art in three locations that would be functional and decorative.
Artists or artistic teams from the metropolitan area are eligible to submit a portfolio, statement and resume to be included in a town on-call list.
The request for applications is part of a town initiative to start a community public art program in New Cassel.
The three initial sites to feature outdoor art will be a triangular site at the west end of Prospect Avenue next to Brush Hollow Road; a park along the south side of Prospect Avenue between Brook Street and Rose Place; and a park at the northwest corner of Prospect Avenue and Swalm Street.
The deadline for applications has been extended to April 8. They can be sent to the town Department of Planning an Economic Development, 210 Plandome Rd., Manhasset.
