The Village of Asharoken celebrated its 85th anniversary with a fundraiser to save its Fourth of July fireworks show.
At a holiday party Nov. 13, the village held a Chinese auction to generate funds for the show. According to the Asharoken Village website, the auction of items donated by village residents sold out.
Neighbors bid on a variety of gifts, including a sculptured horse, a gold and ruby pin, wine basket, a "Great Date" basket featuring a bottle of Dom Perignon, "Baby Girl," "Baby Boy" baskets, two "Nautical Decoupage" art windows and designer sunglasses, according to the site.
There were tables dressed in white rose floral arrangements and a cake in the shape of the American flag. The cake donned sparklers and was presented to the tune of “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” according to the site.
It was not known how much the auction raised.
