Wednesday marks the deadline for Nassau residents to pay the first half of their school tax bill. The problem for many in the Town of Oyster Bay is that they received their bills late.
With all of the confusion, perhaps some have overlooked the deadline: Wednesday, no exceptions.
Oyster Bay spokeswoman Phyllis Barry said residents can pay in person at town hall between 9 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. or through the town's web site up until 11:29 p.m.
Brian Nevin, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano’s communications director, said errors on the part of former Nassau County Assessor Ted Jankowski, who was fired last month in connection with assessment blunders, were the reason for the holdup.
