Roosevelt-area residents don’t have to go far to hit the gym anymore, thanks to a young entrepreneur from the neighborhood.
Christine Bryce, 26, opened Bryce Fitness on Saturday at 375 Nassau Rd. Bryce said its the hamlet’s first, and it boasts the latest equipment, including treadmills, free weights, leg weights and an open floor for aerobics and Zumba classes.
“I just felt the need to put something in town where they could all benefit from it,” Bryce said.
The fitness center, co-owned by her parents, Clinton and Marlen, also Roosevelt residents, was inspired by Bryce’s book, “Manifestations: The Jewel in You,” which discusses turning inward to find hope and success.
After writing her book Bryce wanted to do something more concrete to help her neighbors, so she surveyed them. After receiving around 100 responses from people saying they would like to see a fitness center open up, Bryce went to work. Seven people had signed up for memberships as of Saturday morning.
“This is something from the people of the community,” she said. “It’s run from the bottom of our hearts.”
