Babylon postpones hearing on utility poles

The Town of Babylon has rescheduled public hearings on proposals involving utility poles and the Wyandanch revitalization project for September.

One proposal would create a town law to require the removal of damaged utility poles. Tim Ruggeri, spokesman for the town, said that hearing was postponed from last Tuesday Aug. 16 to give town attorneys more time to fine-tune the language of the new law.

He said the second hearing, on a new set of guidelines for the downtown Wyandanch project, was rescheduled to allow the public more time to review a draft of the code, which is available in the town clerk’s office.

The hearings will be held at the Sept. 13 Town Board meeting, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Babylon Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Hwy., Lindenhurst.
