The Babylon Town Planning Board has rescheduled a public hearing for a restaurant site plan review.

The board had originally scheduled a hearing for North Babylon Hot Bagels at Deer Park and Brookside avenues in North Babylon for Aug. 29. After realizing that proper notification of the hearing had not gone out to all nearby residents, the board adjourned the hearing until its Sept. 12 meeting at 7 p.m.

The board also is extending the public comment period until Sept. 12 on a proposed expansion of a Verizon Wireless building in East Farmingdale. Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless, has proposed construction of two additions to a 17,759-square-foot industrial building, along with installation of a generator room and an indoor 8,000-gallon fuel oil tank.

Communications Workers of America union members have submitted a letter opposing the expansion, citing safety concerns. In response, Tectonic Engineering & Surveying Consultants P.C., an engineering firm from upstate Latham, representing Verizon, submitted a letter to the planning board addressing the union’s concerns.

The planning board reported that it had not received the town fire marshal’s comments on the matter and was therefore extending the period for public comment.
