Babylon Village trustees are considering whether to enact new laws on parking, driveways, property lighting and gas piping.
The two proposed parking laws would make it illegal to leave a vehicle on village streets during a snow emergency.
Another, intended to keep party guests from taking up street parking in residential neighborhoods, would allow for street parking only in front of the home of the driver or host.
The driveway ordinance would set a permitted width of 10 to 20 feet, and limits the driveway’s area to half of a residence’s front yard.
Outdoor lights would have to be installed with shielding to keep them from illuminating neighbors’ properties; and grounding for corrugated stainless steel tubing for gas lines in any village building would have to be performed by a licensed electrician.
The board is scheduled to take up the measures at its Sept. 13 meeting, where it may vote on whether to adopt them.
