Bayville to enforce Halloween curfew again

Once again, the Village of Bayville says it will enforce a pre-witching hour Halloween curfew on anyone younger than 19 years old.

According to village code, people under 19 who aren’t home from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Oct. 30 or Oct. 31 without their parents’ OK are subject to a $250 fine and up to 15 days in jail.

In practice, Det. Lt. Kevin Smith of the Nassau County Police Department's Second Precinct said officers generally warn minors under 16 who violate the curfew to head home.

No one was arrested last year for breaking curfew, he said.
