Top area players will star in a benefit basketball game July 30 in memory of three summer camp counselors who died in a car crash a year ago.

The Malone Mulhall Benefit Basketball Game will honor Floral Park residents Michael Mulhall, 22, Jamie Malone, 22, and Paige Malone, 19, who died on July 15, 2010, after their car crashed into a tree along the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Roosevelt.

Before the accident, Mulhall, the Malones and two others were on their way to work at Camp ANCHOR (Answering the Needs of Citizens with Handicaps through Organized Recreation), a recreational summer camp in Lido Beach for the mentally and physically handicapped.

New York natives Danny Green from the San Antonio Spurs, Tyrone Nash of the University of Notre Dame, and NBA D-League players Jamine Peterson and Vernon Goodridge, along with other local area basketball players, will play in the camp counselors’ memory.

The game will be held at 1 p.m. at the Carnesecca Arena of St. John's University, 8000 Utopia Parkway in Queens.

Tickets to the game are $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mmbenefitgame.com or at the St. John’s University box office the day of the game.

All proceeds will go to the Jamie and Paige Malone Foundation, and the Camp ANCHOR scholarship established in Michael Mulhall’s name.
