"It was awesome being able to step on the field, knowing you are playing for a legend," Kevin Glueckert, former football player, remembered at Howie Vogts memorial service on Thursday. Mourners packed the bleachers at Howie Vogts Field in Bethpage to honor a man who had given them so much in his 56 years as the high school's only varsity football coach.
