Bethpage Federal Credit Union and the John W. Engeman Theater at Northport recently raised $1,210 for the nonprofit The Family Service League through the sale of discount tickets to credit union members for performances at the theater.
Through the program, 121 Bethpage customers took advantage of $5 discounts promoted at credit union branches. For every sale, Engeman donated $10 to the Family Service League -- making up the $1,210 total.
The tickets were sold from April 14 to June 19 for performances of “Guys and Dolls.”
Karen Boorshtein, president of The Family Service League, said the funds would likely go toward the organization’s program to provide tutors for children.
Engeman and Bethpage have worked together before, raising $1,510 for Project Grad in March.
The next fundraiser between the organizations starts tomorrow night with the opening of “Hairspray.” Proceeds from Bethpage member ticket sales will go to the Child Care Council.
Under similar partnerships with charities across Long Island through its Community Give Back program, the theater has raised more than $500,000 over the past four years.
