BP stations donate equipment for youth football

A dozen local BP gas stations are donating equipment for the Nassau-Suffolk Youth Football League.

Station owner George Macchia will present the league with more than a dozen football helmets and twice as many sets of shoulder pads at 7 p.m. at Tanner Park on Bayville Avenue in Copiague.

Macchia is one of 12 station owners participating in a series of equipment donations across the metropolitan area, according to a news release. BP partnered with the New York Giants and USA Football, a youth- and amateur-league governing body, in supporting local football leagues.
