The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program is offering a weekly telephone support group in July.
The program will allow women diagnosed with the disease to speak with breast cancer survivors on four Mondays from 10 to 11 a.m., beginning July 9.
A social worker will facilitate the conference call.
“We recognize that it is sometimes difficult for women to leave their homes due to illness or other responsibilities, so we have created this telephone support as a way for them to get help from the comfort of their home,” said Hillary Rutter, director of the Adelphi program.
Founded in 1980, the university-based program offers emotional support and information for women living with breast cancer. Certified social workers field nearly 4,000 calls annually.
