State Sen. Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. (R-Merrick) and NuHealth/Nassau Health Care Corporation will sponsor a breast cancer screening event on Dec. 20.

The mammography van will be at the Wantagh Public Library, 3285 Park Ave. in Wantagh, from 8:45 a.m. to noon.

On-site nurses and technicians will provide a mammography, a clinical breast examination and instructions for self-examination. Patients and their physicians will be notified of the exam results.

The program is open to all Nassau County women ages 40 and older. Women covered by insurance, Medicaid or Medicare will have their carrier billed, and must bring their information card and a prescription from their doctor to the screening. Patients will be responsible for any co-pays charged by their carrier. Women 40 and older without health insurance will not pay any out-of-pocket costs.

Patients will be required to show ID at the time of the mammogram. If a patient has had a mammography through Nassau Health Care Corporation, she must bring her prior film to her appointment.

Appointments are necessary and are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630.
