Brookhaven Town has received a $10,000 state grant to purchase a “clean energy kiosk” to help residents learn more about energy efficiency.
The kiosk, which will be located in the lobby of Town Hall, will be a free-standing computer terminal that will help residents calculate carbon emissions, said town spokesman Jack Krieger.
The computer will also provide information on how to save money with energy efficient homes, he said.
“It’s there to help promote green efficiency projects,” he said.
The cost of the kiosk will be covered by the grant, Krieger said. The town has not chosen a company to provide the kiosk, though it could be ready next month, he said.
Brookhaven’s Town Board voted Tuesday to amend its budget to reflect the grant, which is from the state Department of State.
Brookhaven Town Hall is at 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville.
