Cellphone tower on agenda in Kings Park

A proposed cellphone tower will be discussed at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Kings Park Civic Association, at Kings Park High School, 200 Route 25A. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Kings Park school district has proposed a 30-year lease with Suffolk Wireless to build and operate a 125-foot cell antenna near the district’s administration building on Church Street.

The civic group also plans to discuss the demolition of 15 buildings at the former Kings Park psychiatric hospital. The state announced Friday that an Indiana company had won a $6.4-million contract to begin razing the buildings in May.

Guest speakers Roy Abrams and Eric Gordon are expected to discuss their program, Students for a Saner World, which raises funds for musical instruments and equipment at local schools.

The civic association also plans to update participants on a proposal by Santilli Commercial Developers to build athletic fields at its sandmine on Old Northport Road, and concerns about two abandoned houses on West Main Street.
