Cleanup, barbecue at Noble Street Park

The Brentwood Association of Concerned Citizens is hosting a cleanup and barbecue at Noble Street Park on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“This is part of ongoing efforts to galvanize the community and develop a neighborhood watch program and community awareness,” said Tito Burrowes, 43, a board member of the association.

The event, which is open to all area residents, is aimed at bringing neighbors together to beautify their community and discuss any concerns they may have, he said.

Burrowes added that members of his group are hoping the Town of Islip will provide new swings and playground equipment for the park after it has been cleaned.

“It’s basically taking back our parks,” he said. “It’s something that will continue to grow so we can change this negative image of Brentwood.”

This is the third cleanup the organization has hosted in Brentwood. It plans to again hold the event in February.
