The Town of Babylon has hired two consultants to assist with redevelopment of Geiger Lake Park.

At its meeting last week, the town board approved contracts with Sidney B. Bowne & Sons  in Mineola and Keller Sandgren Associates in Amityville for work related to improvements to the park, which sits between Wyandanch and Deer Park.

Sidney B. Bowne & Sons was hired for $27,800 for engineering services for a “botanical garden conservatory and associated buildings, food concession and spray park.” Keller Sandgren Associates was hired for $87,000 for design services for the park.

The contracts did not mention the park’s pool. Earlier this year, residents formed the Committee to Save Geiger Lake Pool after the town closed it this past summer without explanation. The pool remains closed, and the town has cited costly repair issues.

Town spokesman Tim Ruggeri said the pool “remains on the table.”

He said when the park design is completed, it will be presented to the community for review and input.
