Summer is unofficially ending, so that means it’s time for the annual East Northport Festival hosted by the East Northport Chamber of Commerce.
The festival kicks off on Friday at 6 p.m. and runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival features rides, games and free entertainment including music, magic shows, a bike stunt show, street performers and an East Northport Idol competition. Arts and crafts and food vendors will also be on hand. This year organizers are calling all hokeypokey dancers to gather at noon on Sunday to attempt to break the Guinness world record of 7,384 people putting their left foot in and shaking it all about.
The event is the chamber’s largest fundraiser and all money raised goes back to the community for hanging flower baskets, holiday lights across Larkfield Road, the high school scholarship program, beautification projects and other community efforts.
Organizers are asking attendees to bring a nonperishable or canned food item for donation to the Northport Food Pantry. For more information call 631-261-3573, or check the chamber’s website, www.eastnorthport.com.
