Hempstead Town is inviting residents to the annual Family Festival by the Sea this weekend at Lido Beach Town Park.

The two-day event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, will feature bands, food, crafts and novelty vendors, sand sculptures, eating contests and children’s shows. Lido Beach Town Park is at 630 Lido Blvd. Admission and parking are free.

The youth portion of the festival will include inflatables, puppet shows, circus clowns, pony rides, a petting zoo and science experiments.

Clam and rib-eating contests will be held on the first day. The second day will feature a sand castle contest and a biathlon.

Anyone interested in entering either of the eating contests can call 516-812-3307. For more information about the festival, call 516-292-9000, ext. 382, or visit toh.li.
