A fire broke out at a recycling facility on Central Avenue in Farmingdale Tuesday afternoon, backing up traffic throughout the area, officials said.

Firefighters battled the blaze at Two Brothers Scrap Metal for more than 40 minutes, a witness said.

Additionally, an SUV belonging to the Melville Fire Department's chief overturned near Smith Street and Route 110, less than a mile away from the scene, while responding to the fire.
