Jarrett Stein, the former principal of Woodhull Intermediate School in the Huntington School District, was appointed Director of School Safety and Alternative Educational Programs at a special school board meeting this morning.
Stein will be responsible for supervising the current alternative after school high school program. He will develop and make recommendations for a full day alternative high school program, district security staff will now report to him, and he will provide supervision and coordination of district-wide school safety.
Stein will also serve as a community relations liaison to strengthen district awareness and participation in community programs.
"This was a position that had been recommended by previous security consultants we had worked with," school board president Bill Dwyer said. "It's a recognized need for he district that we now had an opportunity to create."
Additionally , the board announced that Jack Abrams School Principal Mary Stokkers would replace Stein as principal of Woodhull.
