State Sen. Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with South Nassau Communities Hospital and the Integrated Medical Foundation, will sponsor two separate free prostate cancer screening events in Freeport and Wantagh.

The Freeport screening will be held on Sept. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Freeport Recreation Center, 130 E. Merrick Rd. The Wantagh screening will be conducted on Sept. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wantagh Library, 3285 Park Ave.

The program will be open to all Nassau County men ages 40 and older who have not been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Screenings will include a prostate-specific antigen blood test and a digital rectal exam.

Patients will be required to show photo ID containing an address at the time of the screening. Patients wishing to be notified of the exam results should bring two stamped envelopes: one addressed to themselves and the other to their regular doctor.

Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins will be accepted. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information or to make an appointment, call Fuschillo’s office at 516-882- 0630.
