From the White House to Disneyland, Johnny Peers and his 15 show dogs are entertaining audiences across the country both on stage and screen.
Peers, a graduate of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College and the ringmaster for the Muttville Comix comedy show, also made a cameo appearance on an episode of “Seinfeld,” performed on the “David Letterman Show” and won the 2003 season of the Animal Planet’s TV series “Pet Star.”
But most recently, Peers performed for Long Islanders as his show was featured throughout the summer at the Long Island Game Farm in Manorville.
“It was a great experience,” said Peers, of Sarasota, Fla. “I really enjoy performing for the families. That’s my thing.”
The dogs, most of whom have been rescued from shelters, each have a unique set of skills, such as skateboarding, tightrope walking or catching rings.
During one of the summer’s final shows at the game farm, the dogs entertained the crowd by walking high-wires, riding scooters and standing in a conga line.
When Peers asked for help with some of his tricks, dozens of kids gasped and stretched their hands skyward as Peers searched the crowd and chose a handful of them to come onstage. Once the show was over, Peers invited audience members to the stage to take pictures with their favorite dog.
Peers said he looks forward to performing at the game farm next summer.
