Golfers wanted for Hempstead Town tourney

Registration for the fourth annual Supervisor’s Cup Golf Classic has teed off, with applications available at most Hempstead Town parks and online at the town’s website. A lottery on Sept. 16 will choose 144 golfers and 20 alternates.

The tournament is set for Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Lido Golf Course in Lido Beach, with tee-off time at 10 a.m.

Golfers will play 18 holes of tournament golf and receive a bucket of balls for the driving range, continental breakfast, afternoon barbecue, motorized golf cart, on-course refreshments, goody bag, awards and photographs.

The lottery will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 16 in the clubhouse of the Merrick Road Park Golf Course. Players whose names are drawn will have five days to submit the $15 fee.

Golfers who want to enter the lottery must submit completed applications in person or by mail to the Town of Hempstead Parks Department, 200 N. Franklin St., Hempstead, or by fax to 516-292-6024 before midnight Sept. 9.
