In honor of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, profits and donations from this year’s Great Neck Plaza AutoFest and Street Fair will benefit two charities aimed at helping victims and families of the terror attacks.
This year’s event, featuring children’s activities, food, and classic and special edition automobiles, runs from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The rain date is Sept. 25.
Profits from rides and attractions, as well as donations, will go to Tuesday’s Children and the September 11th Families Association. Organizers are also waiving car registration fees and asking car owners to donate that money ($20 in advance; $35 day of event) to the specified charities.
Tuesday’s Children provides mentoring, education, career guidance and other services for children and families of victims. The September 11th Families Association is a peer support grouped whose mission is to help victims and share resources for long-term recovery.
