At least two towns on Long Island are celebrating Halloween with their furrier of residents in mind.
On Saturday, the Village of Cold Spring Harbor will hold its fourth-annual Howl-Ween Parade Celebration. A costume parade for dogs will begin at 1 p.m. at the corner of Main Street and Shore Road. The parade will end with a local sidewalk street sale. Participants are asked to donate $10 and pet food to benefit the Pet Pantry, operated by Long Island Cares, Inc. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
On Sunday, the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce will host “Paws for a Cause,” a pet parade, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The parade will take place at the Ronkonoma Fire Department on the corner of Portion Road and Hawkins Avenue. The winner of the Scariest Costume contest will win a $50 gift certificate to Pet Supplies Plus, and there will be treats for pets. Donations will be accepted to benefit a local animal shelter. Pets must be leashed.
