Representatives of the state Department of Financial Services continue to visit locations in Nassau County to help homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues stemming from damage caused by superstorm Sandy.
The department’s representatives can meet with residents inside the agency’s Mobile Command Center on the following days:
Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Cedar Creek Park, Merrick Road, Seaford.
On Feb. 13, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Merrick Road Town Park, Golf Course Clubhouse, 2550 Clubhouse Rd., Merrick.
Residents and business owners who need assistance with their insurance coverage will be able to speak individually with a financial services department representative able to answer storm-related questions about homeowners’, renters’, and business owners’ insurance coverage. Residents should bring copies of their insurance documents, payment records, and correspondence with their insurer.
Representatives can answer questions about the insurance claims process, help residents seek resolution with an insurer, help residents obtain release of insurance money from their bank, file an official complaint against an insurer, and provide information on local, state and federal relief programs.
Individuals unable to visit the help center but in need of assistance can call the department’s storm assistance consumer help line at 800-339-1759. The hotline is operated seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
