The non-profit Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) announced Tuesday it has received a $10,000 grant from the WE CARE Fund of the Nassau County Bar Association.
The INN, a volunteer-based organization in Hempstead, will use the donation to fund its long-term housing program, which provides housing to more than 20 homeless families and individuals and helps them become self-sufficient. The program is marking its 20th anniversary.
The INN also provides food, shelter and other services at 19 soup kitchens and three homeless shelters. Since 1998, the WE CARE fund has contributed $57,750 to support the INN.
“We know that the members of the legal community work very hard to raise funds to donate,” Joe Barry, the INN’s director of fundraising, said in a statement. “In these challenging times, we are appreciative to be selected and are confident that this donation will be used to help formerly homeless families have a bright future.”
