The Kings Point Civic Association and Nassau County Police Department will meet tonight at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Great Neck at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the recent rash of home invasions with area residents.
At least five home invasions have taken place since November in Great Neck and Kings Point. Police have said that an intruder has entered through unlocked doors or windows and confronted girls and women, ages 5 to 63.
In one case, a cloth was held to a teenager’s face; in another, a knife was held to the neck of a 61-year-old woman. There may be some kind of sexual aspect to the crimes, police said.
Nassau police have increased patrols in the area, offered use of its K9 units and changed the hours of special patrols, according to Nassau County Police Department Lt. Kevin Smith.
