Huntington ends emergency, Islip declares
As the Town of Huntington Supervisor Frank P. Petrone lifted a snow emergency Monday, Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan declared one
Petrone’s order was effective 2 p.m. Monday. “While we ask motorists to continue to use caution, the restrictions imposed by a snow emergency are no longer necessary,” he said.

Petrone had originally issued a snow emergency at 1:30 p.m. Sunday as the blizzard began to hit Long Island.
Meanwhile, Supervisor Nolan declared a snow emergency Monday afternoon, retroactive as of Sunday. The declaration allows the supervisor to throw all necessary town resources at storm-related hazards.
A snow emergency declared Sunday in Long Beach is still in effect.
