Huntington officials will raze three dilapidated houses at 1 p.m. today to make way for 16 affordable housing units in Huntington Station.
The three houses, on Columbia Street and Lowndes Avenue, were purchased with Suffolk County assistance and are being demolished as part of the town’s “Take Back the Blocks” program.
The town plans to combine the sites with an adjacent town-owned parcel to make space for the 16 units, or eight duplexes, which will be owner-occupied for first-time home buyers that meet income requirements. Each unit will have an accessory apartment.
Buyers will be selected by lottery.
