Islip residents are invited to participate in an open house about rebuilding areas damaged by superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and other major storms.

The New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program plans to host an open house Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the West Islip firehouse at 309 Union Blvd. The open house is focused on collecting community input to help with the rebuilding of the two zones that have been designated to received additional assistance: Oakdale/West Sayville and West Islip.

Each zone has a committee made up of residents, local business owners, community groups and civics, planning engineers and town and state representatives. The committee members will share updates on the reconstruction planning to date.
