The Cherry Valley Club in Garden City will host the fifth annual Keith R. Cerrato Caddie Golf Tournament on Monday, Aug. 5, in memory of a caddie who worked at the golf club.

The tournament pays tribute to Cerrato, 24, who passed away in a tragic accident in December 2006. Cerrato, a student at Hofstra University, was a caddie at Cherry Valley for more than 10 years and also worked in the bag room and on the range.

In last year’s tournament, almost 100 caddies from more than 17 cubs throughout the metropolitan region were sponsored to play by their local clubs and members. The tournament is open only to caddies from the region. The deadline to sign up is Friday.

Caddies will enjoy a full day of activities, including use of a practice range, lunch, golf, a putting contest and an awards dinner after the tournament.

All net proceeds go to the Keith Cerrato Charitable Fund Inc., which funds two scholarships for underprivileged students at Hofstra University and Chaminade High School.
