Kids to rock out in Commack

Student rock musicians will perform in concert Monday at the Smithtown Youth Bureau’s Safe Summer Night program at Hoyt Farm Nature Preserve in Commack.

The event is designed for middle school students from the Smithtown, Kings Park, Commack and Hauppauge school districts. Admission is free.

The Melville House Band, including students from the School of Rock in Port Jefferson, are scheduled to perform. The program will begin at 6 p.m.

In addition to the music, Safe Summer Night offers basketball, volleyball, karaoke, boccie, horseshoes, board games, arts and crafts and other activities. Nonperishable food will be collected and donated to Long Island Cares.

High school students who volunteer may be able to receive community service credit. For more information, call 631-360-7595 or email phirschhorn@tosgov.com.
