Students at Bayport-Blue Point’s Sylvan Avenue Elementary School used their writing skills for something other than getting good grades this holiday season.

They participated in Macy's Believe, a campaign that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For each letter the students dropped in Macy's Santa's Mailbox, the department store chain made a $1 donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Students wrote letters to Santa describing their holiday wishes.

Letters were placed in the school’s red “Believe mailbox” before heading to Macy’s and, eventually, the North Pole.
