Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko will make another attempt tonight to convince the town board to accept his proposed 2011 budget, which would result in 68 layoffs and several service cuts. The board gave Lesko a vote of no confidence two weeks ago when he first proposed the spending plan.

Without the board’s acceptance, doubt would be cast on whether Lesko could pass his budget in November.

The vote comes the same day the board is set to vote on a battery of fee increases to raise revenue. The fee hikes are on everything from the charge to put up a commercial sign (from $200 to $400) to the fee for a communication tower (from $1,500 to $5,000).

The meeting starts at 5 p.m. at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville.
