LI nonprofits get windfall from BofA

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation awarded grants Wednesday to a pair of Long Island nonprofits as part of its Neighborhood Excellence Initiative.

Hope for Youth, a social services organization in Amityville, and Long Island Children’s Museum in East Garden City have been named 2010 Long Island Neighborhood Builders, the nonprofit category of the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative.

Each organization will receive $200,000 in unrestricted grant funding and participate in Bank of America’s Neighborhood Excellence Leadership Program with other nonprofit leaders from 44 communities across the country and from London.

More on the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative can be found here.
