Lloyd Harbor Village residents will soon be part of an emergency alert system that notifies them of emergencies, such as road closures in the village.
At Monday night’s board meeting, Lloyd Harbor trustees authorized the village police force to join Suffolk County’s emergency alert system. Village police officials said the system is similar to the type used by Long Island school districts to alert parents to emergencies and updates.
Residents will be able to sign up with the county for the service, created specifically for the village and will receive alerts over the phone, in e-mail and text messages, and via devices used for the hearing-impaired.
There will be no cost to residents.
