The City of Long Beach has announced the cost for dog owners to license their pets after a change in state law that takes effect Jan. 1, 2011.

The 2010-2011 New York State budget passed the duties of dog licensing from the state to the local level. Owners can register their dogs with the city clerk’s office, with a $10 charge for each neutered or spayed dog and an $18 fee for dogs who haven’t been spayed or neutered.

In addition, the city is reminding residents to buy their 2011 parking permits for municipal lots.

Parking permits are $10 per vehicle. Applications are available on the city's website
