Police: Minivan drove up utility pole wire in Riverhead
Riverhead Town police said they were not immediately sure whether there were injuries when a minivan drove up the support wire of a utility pole Friday morning on Old Country Road and Kroemer Avenue.
Police responding to a call for a single-vehicle accident at about 7:25 a.m. found that a van had climbed the “down guy” wire, the metal cable attached to the ground used to support a utility pole.
A police spokesman said Friday the officers were still investigating, so more information was not readily available. An ambulance was called, he said, but it was not known whether there were any injuries.
