* Bicycle Show US is hosting its "Annual Ride to Montauk" this weekend. According to an LIRR news release, to allow customers to efficiently board/exit trains, bikes are not allowed on the Babylon or Montauk branch on Saturday. Participants of the ride can review bike transport information at www.ridetomontauk.com or contact ride staff at firstname.lastname@example.org.
* Starting today, work will begin on the total renovation of the restrooms at the Lynbrook LIRR station, according to an LIRR news release. The work is expected to be finished by the end of July. During the first phase of work, the men's restroom will be temporarily closed, and the women's restroom will temporarily serve as a unisex facility, allowing one customer in at a time, and the door will lock.
For the annual Smithtown Festival Day, Route 25A will be closed between New York Avenue and Route 111 in Smithtown between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.
CRIME ALERT: Man wanted for petty larceny
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Seventh Precinct crime section officers seek the public's help in identifying and locating a man who stole groceries from King Kullen in Middle Island on Saturday. The man entered the store, at 1235 Middle Country Rd., at 3:56 p.m. and was confronted by an employee, who was then pushed and punched in the head. The suspect fled with a male driver in an older model navy blue Dodge Ram with no license plates. The suspect is described as 5-foot-11, stocky with dark hair, a mustache and beard. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
