In some late-coming village election news, incumbents lost re-election bids in the small North Shore villages of Poquott and Shoreham.
In Poquott, Mayor Barbara Donovan was defeated by challenger Dolores Parrish, 135-122. Shoreham Mayor Roger Pijacki lost to challenger Ed Weiss, 143-87.
In the Poquott trustee race, challengers Edward Schmidt (146 votes) and John Pesek (131) unseated incumbents Sandra Nicoletti (115) and Christine Vitkun (110).
In the Shoreham trustee race, challengers Kathleen Baumann Schnoor (140 votes) and Rosie Connell (135) defeated John Miller (103) and incumbent trustee Carol Willen (80). Full election results
TRAFFIC AND TRANSIT
SOUTHERN STATE PKWY. A crash is blocking the left eastbound lane at Exit 30S.
LIE: An accident investigation has closed the LIE north service road between Crooked Hill and Commack roads in Commack. Stop-and-go traffic from the Sagtikos Parkway.
